Come, Sail Away

“I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning to sail my own ship.”
(Louisa May Alcott)

We here in Atlanta are bracing ourselves for a winter storm today & tomorrow. Our track record on handling such events is not…failure-free, let’s say. (Just google “Atlanta snowpocalypse”)

Our past failures have taught us well, however. This is good, because storms continue to happen. In weather and in finances and in relationships. That’s just the way life works. You don’t train to become ScreamFree so your life can be free from struggle. That kind of life just doesn’t exist. You train yourself so you can sail your own ship, learning to navigate the rough seas with grace and dexterity.

And like Miss Alcott, you mustn’t wait until you’ve mastered the art of yourself before you begin. No. You are learning and growing and that is enough—you can face those toddler tantrums, spousal mood swings, sleepless nights over finances. And the more often you do it with a growth mindset, the better you’ll get at it. You got this. (Even us, Atlantans–let’s not freak out!)

Peace begins with pause,
