Human Nature
“A human being has a natural desire to have more of a good thing than he needs.” (Mark Twain)
Mark Twain explains it all for us. This is why you have trouble stopping at one Krispy Kreme donut. This is why you sit down to watch 30 minutes of television and “come to” four hours later. This explains why your children do…just about everything they do!
Seriously, this is a great idea to keep in mind when it comes to setting limits with our children (and ourselves). No one likes it when they bump up against an externally-imposed limitation. That’s okay. In fact, according to Twain, it’s natural. It doesn’t make a person greedy, lazy, indolent, or rude. It just makes them human.
