In Memory of
Have you ever been present with, and listened to, by a true person of peace?
This weekend I attended the funeral of such a person. I don’t choose those words hastily; Tim Pownall was one of the few I’ve known who’ve earned that distinction.
Tim was one of the founding board members of our nonprofit, The ScreamFree Institute, and he was one of my most beloved mentors. We all miss him dearly.
I met Tim while getting trained as a mediator at Pepperdine University, and was struck by this peacemaker’s presence. As he helped bring resolution to thousands of difficult conflicts, he helped people actually walk away feeling better than if the conflict had never occurred.
Jesus is credited with saying the following: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Tim was a child of God.
Peace begins with pause,
