Sleep in Heavenly Peace (Please)

“There never was a child so lovely, but his mother was glad to get him to sleep.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

You gave with wonder at the sight of his smiling eyes or the way her hair falls angelically around her face. You also wince with weariness at the cry of, “MOM!?!?!? He stole my favorite pencil!” or “DAD!!! The hamster got loose again!”

So, you don’t want to be around your children 24/7/365? Good. There’d be something wrong with you if you did.

Stop feeling guilty for the fact that you want some time to yourself. An early bedtime for your kids may be your chance to recharge your batteries by doing something just for you. By taking some time at the end of the day to unwind and relax, you’re taking care of yourself. And that’s always a good way to love your child.
