“In great countries, children are always trying to remain children, and the parents want to make them into adults. In vile countries, the children are always wanting to be adults, and the parents want to keep them children.” (John Ruskin)
A tree farmer does not want to raise saplings. A corn farmer isn’t raising niblets. A goat farmer isn’t raising kids, and neither are we. After all, we already have kids!
A tree farmer raises trees. A corn farmer raises corn. A goat farmer raises goats. We’re raising adults — men and women — preparing them for a life on their own. Remember that.
