Happily Here and Now

“All the king’s horses and all the king’s men can’t put the past together again. So let’s remember. Don’t try to saw sawdust.” (Dale Carnegie)

Each day really is a new start for you and the people in your life. If you flipped out over something silly yesterday, apologize and put it behind you. If your child had a particularly difficult time at bedtime, allow that to slide out of you as you slide under the covers. If your spouse, your boss, your parents managed to step on every last one of your nerves, let it go and move ahead.

There’s no sense rehashing the same issue over and over again. Stop torturing yourself over yesterday’s mistakes and bad behavior. Forgive them. Forgive yourself. And expect them to surprise you today. You’re more likely to see what you’re looking for, so look for the good in them and in yourself.

After all, life may not be a fairy tale, but at least we can live happily in the here and now.
